100,000 THANKS - posted 20 September 2008
Spokesman-online has soared past a magical milestone - 100,000 visits - all thanks to you, our loyal readers.
When we launched the website last November we set ourselves what we thought was a challenging target of 10,000 visits a year. Little in our wildest dreams did we expect to be celebrating 100,000 in less than 12 months.
Even when we upgraded to wireless Broadband and had to endure the best part of a month accessing the site from the public library, you stuck with us.
Despite the expected initial wave of interest, numbers show no signs of declining. We are still averaging over 450 visits a day and regularly break through the 500 barrier, especially on Mondays when our results and reports features are very much in demand. In total you have browsed close on half a million pages!
As we have said before, we are not in competition with other cycle speedway sites. Rather we like to think we can all complement each other. Having said that, we take great pride in our achievement.
And we mean OUR achievement. spokesman-online is a real team effort. Without our contributors there would simply be no website. Without Brian Barnett and our other enthusiastic photographers the pages would be bland and uninteresting. Without the support of our wonderful sponsors Wosskow Brown Solictors there would be fewer pages and less content and, of course, with the likes of Jock Harvie, Joe McLaughlin and John Whiting contributing regularly, spokesman-online will never be dull!
And then of course there's YOU! You have made spokesman-online the enormous success it is. Your response, support and encouragement makes all the effort worthwhile.
So keep clicking on spokesman-online. We promise you - the best is yet to come!
